1942年，第二次世界大战如火如荼，此时的日本在亚洲各战场所向披靡，无往不利。在南洋爪哇岛的热带丛林中，一所日军战俘看守所伫立于此，陆军大尉世野 井（坂本龙一 饰）和大原上士（北野武 饰）共同管理看守所。大原作风粗鲁，冷酷无情，他对待欧美战俘从来不留情面，而对于那些有同性恋倾向的人更残酷至极。相比之下，相貌俊美的世野则显得绅士 许多。英国陆军少佐杰克（David Bowie 饰）潇洒俊朗，并且说得一口流利的日语，因此他经常作为战俘代表同日军谈判。他的第一次出现便让世野心有所动。在接下来的日子里，两个人徘徊在家国恩怨和 个人情感之间，彼此心中进行着辛苦而残酷的角力……
　　本片根据英国人劳伦斯•包斯特的小说改编，并荣获1984年电影旬报观众选择奖最佳影片，1984年每日电影最佳导演、最佳影片、最佳配乐、最佳剧本以及最佳男配角（北野武）等5个奖项。  

影片是一部战争题材的电影，但没有一个战斗场面，战争在此仅仅是一个背景。作品展现了日军管理的俘虏收容所里的同性恋行为，深刻地表现了人的存在本质。本 想展现一种人道主义，结果展现出来的人道主义却伤痕累累，但也正因如此，更能震撼人的心灵。影片曾获1983年《电影旬报》十佳奖第二名，被推荐为参加当 年戛纳国际电影节金棕榈奖竞选作品，并被评为20世纪80年代日本最佳影片第七名。

 

本片音乐是一大亮点, 主题曲'Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence' 有30多个版本广为流传,被人们所称道。《Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence》这首曲子是坂本龙一为大岛渚的同名电影谱写的，是他电影配乐的处女作，也是他最经典的作品之一。

《Merry Christmas,Mr. Lawrence》大抵算得坂本龙一的传世绝唱（这也是一个人一辈子里不可回避的一首歌，如果你没有听过，那你的生命也死掉了四分之一），美丽琴音里流淌 着生命永远无法选择的宿命的悲剧感，对人性纯粹的追求与矜持，对异样情欲的纠缠与否认，对真理信念的盲目与回避...所有这些有时沉重得无以承受，有时又 是那般虚弱无力，孰对孰不对的选择更是令人应接不暇、心力交瘁。当面对死去的人们只留下或深或浅的记忆，所有生命的美丽化作一句"圣诞快乐"，然后满天飞 舞起洁白的雪花，飘落这世间每个干净与不干净的角落。

A highly unusual war movie with as many detractors as fans, this English-language feature directed by Nagisa Oshima (In the Realm of the Senses) stars David Bowie as a silent, ethereal POW in a Japanese camp. Protesting--via his own enigmatic rebellion--the camp's brutal conditions and treatment of prisoners, Bowie's character earns the respect of the camp commandant (Ryuichi Sakamoto). While the two seem locked in an unspoken, spiritual understanding, another prisoner (Tom Conti) engages in a more conventional resistance against a monstrous sergeant (Takeshi). The film has a way of evoking as many questions as certainties, and it is not always easy to understand the internal logic of the characters' actions. But that's generally true of Oshima's movies, in which the power of certain relationships is almost hallucinatory in self-referential intensity. The cast is outstanding, and Bowie is particularly fascinating in his alien way.

The comedy masterpiece. Since Adolf Hitler had the audacity to borrow his mustache from the most famous celebrity in the world – Charlie Chaplin – it meant Hitler was fair game for Chaplin’s comedy. (Strangely, the two men were born within four days of each other.) The Great Dictator, conceived in the late thirties but not released until 1940, when Hitler’s war was raging across Europe, is the film that skewered the tyrant. Chaplin himself hits one of his highest moments in the amazing sequence where he performs a dance of love with a large inflated globe of the world. Never has the hunger for world domination been more rhapsodically expressed. The slapstick is swift and sharp, but it was not enough for Chaplin. He ends the film with the barber’s six-minute speech calling for peace and prophesying a hopeful future for troubled mankind. Some critics have always felt the monologue was out of place, but the lyricism and sheer humanity of it are still stirring. This was the last appearance of Chaplin’s Little Tramp character, and not coincidentally it was his first all-talking picture.

「CENCOROLL」作为动画革命东京支援的第一期作品，是一个由少女与怪兽交织而成的故事。在制作上由宇木敦哉一手担纲监督、剧本、人物设计和作画，自年初的TAF2009公开作品的相关情报以来就倍受业界关注和好评。动画的音乐将由为「初音」出品过多首人气乐曲的ryo负责创作，而主题歌「LOVE＆ROLL」将收录在8月12日发行的「化物语」主题歌CD「君の知らない物语」中。

【STORY】
