　　在美国短短的300年历史中，有三个历史时期最为文学及电影艺术家们所津津乐道，即南北战争、越南战争及《四海兄弟》所处的时代背景——本世纪三十年代的城市黑帮。

　　在那个禁酒令的年代，街头黑帮可谓是无法无天、横行一时，而玩家所要扮演的正是意大利黑帮salieri家族中一名下级成员，亲身体验“人在江湖”的苦涩味道。




　 　每一个看到《四海兄弟》游戏画面的人，相信都会发出“It's so beautiful!”的由衷赞叹。游戏当中所设定的背景是虚构的三十年代美国都市－失落天堂，在这十二平方英哩的城市中，包含了一整套真实的交通系统及 各类景观，无论建筑风格、服装风格都完全是一派地道的三十年代风情，收音机中回响着的也是怀旧风格的爵士音乐和甜腻腻的老式情歌。玩家不但可以自由驾车在 街道中穿行、欣赏沿途优美的风景，还可以搭乘有轨电车、轻轨铁路等交通工具，体验一名普通市民的生活。游戏不仅在场景外观上表现出色，就连建筑物的内部环 境，包括酒吧、旅馆房间、火车站飞机场等，也都表现得极为精致细密，令人叹为观止。




　 　《四海兄弟》由20个大关卡及无数个小任务组成，内容包括恐吓、保护要人、抢夺货物、暗杀等等。任务的完成过程具有很高的自由度，对自己的实力有自信的 玩家可以堂堂正正地从正面挑战，而通过各种“邪门歪道”投机取巧则又有完全不同的另一番乐趣。即使当玩家不进行任何行动时，整座城市也依然会按照自己的规 律运行，人们将如往常一样各行其是，令人感慨《四海兄弟》游戏世界的庞大与深沉。特别值得一提的是，游戏在车辆和武器的表现上极为出色，不但种类上数量繁 多（超过20种枪械、60种车辆）、外观刻画细致入微，更对每一种车辆或枪械的性能都进行了准确的再现，制作小组的深厚功力由此可见一斑。
